Fast Recovery Diode
Apr 25, 2018

Fast Recovery Diode (FRD) is a semiconductor diode with good switching characteristics and short reverse recovery time. It is mainly used in switching power, PWM pulse width modulator, frequency converter and other electronic circuits. It is used as a high frequency rectifier diode, a reflux diode or a damping diode. The internal structure of the fast recovery diode is different from that of the ordinary PN junction diode. It belongs to the PIN junction diode, that is, the base area I is added between the P type silicon material and the N type silicon material, and the PIN silicon wafer is formed. The base area is very thin and the reverse recovery charge is very small, so the reverse recovery time of the fast recovery diode is shorter, the forward voltage drop is lower, and the reverse breakdown voltage (pressure resistance) is higher.
